SENIOR PASTOR, LEAD ELDER-PREACHING/TEACHING ELDER
Email:  pastorjerry@dallasbaptistchurch.org
My passion is seeing people come to know Jesus and helping them grow in their walk as followers of Jesus Christ. I entered the ministry rather late in life because I was running from the Lord’s calling, but since saying “yes“ to Jesus, I’ve had the privilege to serve the Lord as an interim Minister of Education, Interim Pastor and Senior Pastor since 1992. I’m a ‘family-guy,’ and am married to Gini, who is my help-mate and partner in life and ministry. We have two children and two grandchildren who all live in Texas. I completed my Ph.D. in Leadership from Trinity Seminary in 2012 and hold a Master of Divinity with Biblical Languages from Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary. I have a B.A. in American History from the University of Cincinnati. Before following God’s Call to be a pastor, I had successful careers in automobile sales (I even sold used cars), insurance sales and management. I served during the Viet Nam era as a commissioned officer (Captain, Regular Army) in the U.S. Army (1968-1975). Some of my hobbies include camping, hunting, fishing, canoeing, golf, reading, model trains, computers and photography.

Bev: I was saved at 8 years old. Each Sunday I would get up early to watch The Discovery Singers on TV, wishing I could be one of those girls and sing like a bird. I’ve always enjoyed singing whether it was to the radio, my hairbrush or my horse. At a crossroads in my faith when I couldn’t read my Bible or know if I trusted God anymore, He used music to speak to my heart the way nothing else could. Jeremy Camp’s CD “Restored” soothed my soul and guided me back to Jesus. No matter what happened in life I did still believe. God led me to DBC where I became involved with children’s ministry. After some time I knew it wasn’t my calling and started praying for God to show me what my ministry was and asked if He wouldn’t mind providing a nice guy to go along with it.

Stan: I’ve always been into music. I started playing accordion at the age of 12 and joined a local polka band at 19. We branched out and played pop, rock and big band music for 15 years. During this time I learned how to play guitar and picked up drumming. My knowledge of church was of a lot of rules, regulations and repetitive anecdotes. Deep down inside I always thought it should be more personal, but I didn’t know how to make it that way. When I met Bev, she gave me that Jeremy Camp CD. The music somehow made God more personal to me. I attended DBC and was shocked to see Pastor Jerry read and preach from the Bible. I thought “this is cool, this is where I belong.” I gave my heart to Jesus and was baptized.

The Kardishs: We were married in 2010 and became Worship Leaders at DBC in 2012. Bev plays bass guitar and sings. Stan sings, plays drums, guitar, keyboards, mandolin, and yes, accordion. Our desire is to spread the Word of Christ and the love of Jesus through music. We want to touch people with music, the way Jesus has touched us. Someone once told us our ministry is for the saved. We disagree, our ministry is for anyone who desires to draw closer to Jesus whether they know it or not. Until the whole world hears…

ADMINISTRATIVE ASSISTANT

I was born in Louisiana and grew up in southeast Texas. I accepted the gift of Jesus into my life when I was 15. I met my husband Ron at Lamar University where we both graduated with BBA degrees; I have also attended classes at Southern Baptist Theological Seminary for Christian Education. Ron and I moved to northeast Pennsylvania in 1967 and helped to start Dallas Baptist Church. We have 3 adult children and 8 grandchildren. Our infant son Darren is a permanent resident of heaven.

I am the Children’s Ministry Coordinator and also serve as Administrative Assistant for the church. My passion is working with children and I do that here at Dallas through the Caraway Street children’s program.

The Lord has proven to and is still showing me that “His mercies are new every morning. Great is His faithfulness.”

MISSIONS-ASSIMILATION ELDER

I was born in Connellsville, PA, into a devoutly religious family, but did not personally accept the lord into my life until the age of 31. My wife, Maureen, and I have two adult sons and four grandchildren. Our son Andy went home to the Lord at the age of ten. Retiring from teaching elementary school has given me time to help people in various ways. As an elder with oversight over missions and assimilation, I get to meet people of all kinds, sharing with them the truth and love of Christ. I also get to explain the ins and outs of church membership to prospective members and others. During my devotional time and while sharing with fellow believers, the Lord has been impressing upon me recently not to be too concerned, but to simply wait on Him to do His work in the hearts of loved ones. (Philippians 4:6) God is good.
